Southwestern Distillery is one of the most boldly adventurous and brilliant distilleries in the UK.
Based in Cornwall, the small team has been making delicious, craft gins since 2013 with the eponymous maker of the entire Tarquin's Gin range stuffing his car with newly waxed bottles and delivering them across the length and breadth of the county. They've grown since but the youthful enthusiasm and entrepreneurial nature still remains.
Juniper has always been key to Tarquin's Gin, but also key to the brand's success is their openness to collaboration – from the Eden Project, to Rick Stein and even to our sister site, Gin Foundry, Southwestern Distillery is always keen to share ideas and work with others to create often mad but always brilliant gins.
Tarquin's Cornish Dry Gin is wonderfully well-balanced, with classic botanicals and a huge juniper core anchoring it firmly in traditional territory. Still, it is never boring, with Devon violets bringing a soft local sip and earthy botanicals bringing a thick, cheek-filling texture. Divine!
To serve: Zesty orange abounds throughout each sip, so lean right into that. Lashings of Fever-Tree Med and a coil of orange peel will see you right.
