Considered by some as the "original absinthe" since its founder Henri-Louis Pernod helped create the first commercial absinthe distillery in 1798 - Pernod Absinthe was created in 1805.

After years of being banned (they created an alternative product Pernod Anise to circumvent this), Pernod reintroduced its spirit in 2007 after it became legal again. It includes grand wormwood, petit wormwood, hyssop, and melissa (lemon balm) as well as anise.
